Installing the Charter Toolbar
To install the Charter Toolbar, point your browser to http://www.charter.net/toolbar. Click the Download Toolbar button. Make sure you are downloading the correct toolbar for your browser - there is a separate download for Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Explaining the Toolbar
Once the toolbar is installed, it will appear at the top of your browser with a number of buttons and a search box.
The Charter Button
Clicking the Charter Button will take you to the Charter.net homepage.
Clicking the drop-down menu of the Charter Button will display a list of useful links:

The Options Button
Clicking the Options Button will take you to the Toolbar Options page.
Clicking the drop-down menu of the Options Button will display a list of configuration options:

- Clear Search History
- Clears the history of the Charter Toolbar Search Box
- Zoom In/Out
- Pop-up Blocker Manager
- Navigates to the Pop-up Blocker Manager page of the Charter Toolbar Options page.

The Search Button
Entering a search term in the Search Field and clicking the Search Button will display a list of search results.
If you click the Search Button without entering any text in the Search Field, an Input Missing Box will appear.
Selecting the Search menu pull down and selecting Yellow Pages will change the search field to a Yellow Pages search and the zip code field also appears.
The example below illustrated results from a Yellow Pages search and the use of the Highlight Tool. When turned on, the Highlight Tool highlights the search phrase in the search results.

The Pop-up Blocker Tool
Selecting the Pop-up Blocker drop-down menu displays a list of options:
- Enable Pop-up Blocker: Activates the Pop-up Blocker (starting new windows)
- Play sound when a pop-up is blocked: when selected a reminder sound plays when a pop-up web page is blocked
- Show number of pop-ups blocked: displays the number of blocked pop-up web pages
- Reset pop-up counter: returns the counter to zero
- Pop-up Blocker Manager: displays the tool to configure Pop-ups

The Weather Button
Selecting the Weather Button will navigate to the Charter Toolbar Options Weather tab. Once you have added a city, you can use the drop-down menu to return to the Weather Tab to add additional cities. You can add up to 10 U.S. cities.

The Premium Services Button
Clicking the Premium Services Button displays a drop-down menu with links to Charter.net premium services. Selecting Variety Pack Online™ diplays even more content for Charter.net premium services subscribers.

The TV, News and E-mail Buttons
Clicking the TV Button will navigate your browser to the Charter.net TV Page containing top On Demand movies, television listings and recommended viewing.
Clicking the News Button will reveal a list of top news stories from Charter.net. Clicking on a story will open the full article in your browser.
Clicking the E-mail Button will return you to Charter.net for access your Charter.net e-mail.

Creating Custom Buttons
Adding Your Own Buttons
Custom Buttons can be used for creating links to regularly used web sites, such as a bank or social networking sites.
Click the Options Button on the Charter Toolbar.
On the right side of the Option screen is the Custom Buttons configuration tool.
- The user can select an image in the pull down menu on the left
- For the Caption field, enter the title of the button, Ex.: Bank
- For the URL field, enter the full path of the web link, Ex.: http://usbank.com
- Click the plus sign to the right of the URL field to add your Button.
- When finished, click on Save.

Removing the Charter Toolbar and Toolbar Feedback
Uninstalling the Charter Toolbar
Select the drop-down menu from the Options Button, select Help and Uninstall Toolbar.
Your browser will open the Uninstall the Charter Toolbar page. From here you can click the Uninstall the Charter Toolbar Button to remove the Charter Toolbar from your system. You can also provide Charter feedback about why you wish to uninstall the toolbar.
