The following information will help guide you through setting up your charter email account on a few of the most popular mobile platforms. Please select your phone from the following choices:

Setting Up Your iPhone
Tap “Settings”, then tap “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”

Tap “Add Account” then tap “Other

Fill out the form with the correct information for the account you are configuring. Tap “Save” when you are done. Tap “Next”
The iPhone will automatically pull the correct account settings, and return you to the "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" screen. You are now ready to use your email account with the built in Mail application.

Setting Up Your Blackberry Storm
To setup you Blackberry Storm, perform the following actions:
- Log in to your Blackberry Internet Service web site
- Select "Setup New Account" and enter your charter.net email credentials (email address and password):
- Once successful you should see an information message similar to this
- Select "Edit" your account settings:
- Select Advanced settings tab:
- Make sure the following settings are listed (if not - edit them and save):
- Email server: mobile.charter.net
- Port: 993
- SSL: Verify that the SSL box is checked.
*NOTE: The SMTP settings are generated for you by Blackberry’s servers. Charter engineers have worked with Blackberry to ensure the proper settings are presented.

Setting Up Your Windows Mobile Device
Access your “Messaging” menu
Select “Setup e-mail”

- Enter your e-mail address and password as you normally would.
- Tap Next
- Make sure Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet is selected.
- Tap Next
- You should see a message instructing you that settings for Charter.net were found.
- Tap Next
- When prompted, enter your name as you would like it to appear and a name for the e-mail account on your device.
- By default, the “Your email provider” field should be listed as Internet e-mail. If not, tap the drop down menu and make the change.
- In the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: field, enter the following settings
- mobile.charter.net:587
- Verify that both the Outgoing server requires authentication and Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail settings are both checked
- Tap Next
- Enter your full e-mail address and password, e.g., username@charter.net
- Tap Next
- In the Incoming mail server field, enter the following settings
- mobile.charter.net:993
- In the drop down field below, ensure that IMAP4 is listed as the account type
- Tap Next
- On the Advanced Server Settings page, ensure Require SSL for Incoming e-mail and Require SSL for Outgoing e-mail are both selected.
- The Network Connection should be listed as The Internet
- Tap Next
If you entered all of the following settings correctly, the next screen will tell you that your setup is complete and ask you how often you want to send and receive your e-mail. The default time is every 2 hours.

Click Finish if you do not wish to change this setting.

General Setup Instructions
If your mobile device was not addressed in above section, the following directions may be of assistance.
- You will need the following information to allow your Smartphone to connect to mobile.charter.net.
- Username : username@charter.net
- Make sure you enter @charter.net after your username or you will be unable to login.
- Password: The password you use to login to your e-mail account
- SSL : This setting should be on for both SMTP and IMAP
- SMTP: mobile.charter.net
- Port 587
- Note: If you cannot specify a port on your device - try mobile.charter.net:587
- IMAP: mobile.charter.net
- Port 993
- Note: If you cannot specify a port on your device - try mobile.charter.net:993
- If applicable: a login will be required when sending and receiving mail.
