This tutorial will guide you through using The Charter Security Suite Virus Scan.

Open Charter Security Suite

Double-click on the Charter Security Suite Icon
in the Task Bar. This will launch the application.

The status of the Charter Security Suite is displayed on the home page. Click the “Virus & Spy Protection” button to launch the Anti-Virus section of the application.

In this section, you can modify: the level of protection, Real-time Scanning, E-mail Scanning, and Schedule Scanning.
You can also scan the computer for Viruses and Spyware. Let's begin with the Protection Level:

The default recommended Protection Level is “Normal”. If the Protection Level is “Off”, your computer will not be protected.
If you computer does not meet the recommended hardware requirements, “Performance-optimized” will be your default Protection Level

Return to CSS by clicking “OK”.

Click “Configure” next to Real-Time Scanning to modify the default settings.

The Configuration Wizard is launched. On this page, you can enable/disable “Real-Time Scanning” and adjust the scanning options. To modify “E-mail Scanning”, select the highlighted area.

This section allows you to enable/disable scanning of your incoming and outgoing e-mail. To schedule a virus and spy scan of your PC, click “Scheduled Scanning.”

To schedule a scan of your PC for Viruses and Spyware, place a checkmark next to “Enable scheduled scanning”. You can select the date, time, and frequency the computer is scanned. To select which files are scanned, select “Manual Scanning”.

By default, the CSS is set to “Scan all files”. Return to the “Virus & Spy Protection” page by clicking “OK”.

To perform an instant real-time scan, click “Scan my computer” and select “Perform full computer check” (recommended).

The scan will look for Viruses, Spyware, Riskware, and any Suspicious items. The application will report any findings, and will ask you what to do with infected files.

The “Scanning Report” shows the findings from the PC scan. The report will display in the default browser. To see more information on the found item, click the link that will direct you to the F-Secure’s website.
